This document specifies requirements for chemical indicators intended for use with sterilization processes employing steam, ethylene oxide, irradiation, or dry heat. Also included are acceptance criteria that can be used to establish an indicator's compliance. This standard is based on the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard for chemical indicators (ISO 11140-1:1995) but contains significant national deviations.
