This manual was created in 1991 by ASHRAE in cooperation with Solar Energy Industries Association. It was developed by the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC), Rockwell International, as a task in the Department of Energy's Solar in Federal Buildings Program (SFBP) with the advice and assistance of consultants from the solar community. The manual provides guidelines for the installation of large commercial-scale service hot water and space heating solar energy systems, describing procedures that cover all the major steps in installing large solar energy systems. Following these procedures will significantly enhance the success of solar installations in buildings.
