The purpose of AMCA Publication 502 is to aid the design and specification of dampers used to regulate the volume, temperature, and pressure of air flowing through ducted systems. AMCA Publication 502 applies to commercial dampers intended for use amid temperatures from -40°C (- 40°F) to 121°C (250°F), pressures of up to 2,500 Pa (10 in. wg), and velocities of up to 25.4 m/s (5,000 fpm) that can be tested and certified per the requirements of Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International and other independent testing laboratories. The installation and application of these dampers are presented as standard industry-tested practices in generic form.
