Presents the input assumptions analysis of the non-residential energy standards confidence and sensitivity analysis done for the California Energy Commission (CEC). A series of parametric analyses using DOE-2.1D were developed and run to test the annual energy impacts of variations in different parameters. This study assisted the CEC in setting the 1991 non-residential Building Energy Efficiency Standards (BEES). The base-case building used for this analysis was a generic commercial building. Variations in design illumination, thermostat ramp, sizing ratios, economiser, and internal heat gains as well as other modelling assumptions were studied. The analysis was performed for five different climatic zones representing extreme and moderate weather conditions in California. Results of the analysis were tabulated, and the percentage differences in energy performance between each parametric run and its base case were calculated. These results were summarised and graphed.
