Full Description

Applies to two-piece welded type cylinders with one circumferential joint. It specifies material requirements and requirements related to manufacture, including heat treatment. It sets out the design formula for calculating the minimum thickness of wall and end, and gives a range of tests for the parent metal and the welded joint, including tensile and bend tests, and a hydrostatic test on the finished cylinder. Marking and delivery requirements are also specified, together with requirements for the porous substance and the filling of acetone. Performance tests include bump test, hot spot test, flashback test, and bonfire test, to be carried out on at least one fully charged cylinder. See AS 2527-1982 Annex 1. See more
