Applies to the maintenance of insulating oils to BS 418 and in service in transformers, switchgear and similar electrical apparatus. Describes the deterioration that can take place in service and methods of sampling. Tests for electric strength, water content, acidity, sludge, flashpoint, resistivity and dielectric dissipation factor. Recommendations for the frequency of testing and the interpretation of tests.
