The objective of this paper is to provide an evidence-based evaluation of IAQ in commercial buildings situated in warm and humid climates of India. The study aims to identify the influence of ventilation systems and their operational strategies on key IAQ parameters such as PM, CO2, and TVOCs in these specific environmental conditions. Data collected from select commercial buildings over a set period were analysed and compared against threshold values established by international IAQ standards and guidelines, such as those from ASHRAE, WHO, ISHRAE and other global certification bodies. The findings are intended to inform a diverse array of stakeholders, including policymakers, building operators, and professionals within the built environment sector, regarding the critical importance of optimizing ventilation strategies to enhance occupant well-being, comfort, and productivity. By establishing a link between IAQ and occupant health in such climatic regions, this paper aspires to contribute to more informed decision-making in IAQ management and the formulation of best practices for managing IAQ in commercial buildings across similar global regions.
