This standard applies to an air drying flat alkyd enamel for use on primed wooden and metal surfaces of equipment, particularly where a glare-free finish is required and where mar resistance is not of prime importance.

The enamel can be used as an interior or exterior protective coating on wooden surfaces and ferrous metal surfaces primed with primer comforming to CAN/CGSB-1.81, and on non-ferrous metal surfaces primed with primer conforming to CAN/CGSB-1.212.

The enamel may also be used as a finish coat on wooden and metal boxes, and on unprimed wooden slat decks of submarines where a flat finish is required.
