This standard covers the performance requirements of two types of sheet materials, other than polyethylene, suitable for use in controlling the movement of water vapour in building construction.

Material to this standard is primarily intended for use in above-grade building construction and on the interior of below-grade building construction. This standard is not intended to apply to vapour barrier materials for use under concrete slabs or as ground cover in crawl spaces. This standard does not apply to polyethylene vapour barriers which are covered by CAN/CGSB-51.34-M, Vapour Barrier, Polyethylene Sheet for Use in Building Construction.
