Electrical Supply Track Systems for Luminaires (Adopted IEC 570:1995, third edition, with Canadian deviations)

standard by Canadian Standards Association / National Standard of Canada , 02/15/2000

Track This

Full Description

1. Scope

This Standard applies to track systems with two or more poles for the connection of luminaires to the electrical supply, either of rated voltage not exceeding 300 V between poles, 150 Volts-to-ground with the provision for earthing (Class I) and a minimum rated current of 20 A per conductor, or of a rated SELV n ot exceeding 25 V without the provision for earthing (Class III) and rated current not exceeding 25 A per conductor. The track systems may also provide for the mechanical support of the luminaires.

This Standard applies to the safety of such equipment designed to be installed on branch circuits not exceeding 750 V and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

Note: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful summary of the equipment-related requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, in CSA Publication SPE-2000.

It applies to track systems designed for ordinary interior use for mounting on, or flush with, or suspended from walls and ceilings. These track systems are not intended for locations where special conditions prevail as in ships, vehicles and the like and in hazardous locations, for example, where explosions are liable to occur.

This standard shall be read in conjunction with the sections of IEC 598-1 to which reference is made.

Canadian Deviations are included in this standard. /

1. Domaine d'application

Note.

See more
