CSA Preface

Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the SCC Mirror Committee (SMC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC. Also, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Canada participates in the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (ITU-T).

Scope

This International Standard provides general terms and definitions in the area of automatic identification and data capture techniques on which are based further specialized sections in various technical fields, as well as the essential terms to be used by non-specialist users in communication with specialists in automatic identification and data capture techniques.

Préface CSA

L’élaboration des normes dans le secteur des technologies de l’information est harmonisée à l’élaboration des normes à l’échelle internationale. Par l’intermédiaire du Comité technique CSA sur les technologies de l’information (CTTI), des Canadiens forment le Comité parallèle du CCN (CPC) ou sein du Comité technique 1 de l’ISO/IEC sur la technologie de l’information (ISO/IEC JTC1) pour le compte du Conseils canadien des normes (CCN), organisme membre de l’ISO pour le Canada et parrain du Comité national canadien de l’IEC. De plus, à titre de membre de l’Union internationale des télécommunications (UIT), le Canada participe aux travaux du Secteur de normalisation des télécommunications de l’UIT (UIT-T).

Domaine d'application

La présente norme internationale fournit les termes généraux et définitions dans le domaine des techniques automatiques d'identification et de saisie de données sur lesquels se basent d'autres sections spécialisées dans divers domaines techniques, de même que les termes essentiels qui doivent être employés par des utilisateurs non-spécialistes pour communiquer avec des spécialistes dans les techniques automatiques d'identification et de saisie de données.
