A basic introduction to A Simplified Energy Analysis Model, Version 2.1 (ASEAM2.1) was published in ASHRAE Transactions, 1988, Volume 94, Part 2. Since then we have continued our examination of the applicability and limitations of ASEAM2.1 in predicting energy consumption of small- to medium-size buildings. The results of an example simulation problem and their comparison with hand calculations and those of four more widely used commercial software programs are presented in this paper. The aim is to provide useful information for university and industry practitioners who may be considering using this newly developed public-domain software.
