Full Description

1 Scope

B181.1-1.1

This Standard applies to acrylonitrile-butadiene- styrene drain, waste, and vent (ABS-DWV) pipe, pipe fittings, and accessories such as factory-assembled expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves.

1.2

This Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions and tolerances, impact strength, chemical resistance, water resistance, dimensional stability, hydrostatic strength, solvent cement, and marking, as well as performance requirements for expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves. Notes: (1) Recommended installation practices for ABS-DWV pipe are given in Appendix A. Use of these recommended practices will help ensure proper installation and optimum service life. (2) The maximum pressure used to test DWV installations should be 100 kPa (see Clause A5.2).

1.3

The values in SI (metric) units are the standard. Values in parentheses are for information only.

B181.2-1.1

This Standard applies to poly (vinyl chloride) drain, waste, and vent (PVC-DWV) and chlorinated poly (vinyl chloride) drain, waste, and vent (PVC-DWV) pipe, pipe fittings, and accessories such as factory-assembled expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves.

1.2

This Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions and tolerances, impact strength, chemical resistance, water resistance, dimensional stability, hydrostatic strength, solvent cement, and marking, as well as performance requirements for expansion joints, closet flanges, and backwater valves.

Notes: (1) Recommended installation practices for PVC-DWV pipe are given in Appendix A. Use of these recommended practices will help to ensure proper installation and optimum service life. (2) The maximum pressure used to test DWV installations should be 100 kPa (see Clause A5.2).

1.3

The values in SI (metric) units are the standard. Values in parentheses are for information only.

B181.3-1.1

This Standard provides requirements for polyolefin laboratory drainage systems for corrosive applications. Requirements for materials, pipe, and fittings are included. Note: Polyolefin includes both polyethylene and polypropylene plastics.

1.2

These requirements apply to pipe and fittings that are to be joined by heat fusion using the joining equipment supplied by the manufacturer. This Standard is not intended to provide for interchangeability between plastic pipe and fittings from different manufacturers, but it does allow for transition fittings for joining one manufacturer's product to another's, provided the joining technique used is other than heat fusion.

1.3

Systems having features differing from or additional to those contemplated by this Standard should be investigated to determine whether they comply with the intent of this Standard.

B181.5-1.1

This Standard applies to coextruded thermoplastic drain, waste, and vent pipe with an outer layer of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and an inner layer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or with outer and inner layers of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and a core of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), to be used with fittings, accessories, and solvent cement meeting the requirements of CSA Standard B181.1.

1.2

This Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions and tolerances, impact strength, chemical resistance, water resistance, dimensional stability, compression strength, extrusion quality, and bond strength. Note: Recommended storage, handling, and installation practices for coextruded ABS/PVC DWV pipe are the same as those given in CSA Standard B181.1, Appendix A. Use of these recommended practices will help to ensure proper installation and optimum service life.

1.3

The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

B182.1-1.1

This Standard provides requirements for the following: (a) plastic drain and sewer pipe and plastic pipe fittings with pipe stiffness of 275, 320, or 625 kPa, including both single- wall and coextruded dual-wall pipe with a smooth interior; (b) single-wall, noncorrugated, perforated plastic pipe and plastic pipe fittings; (c) coextruded dual-wall perforated plastic pipe with a smooth interior and corrugated exterior; and (d) solvent cement. Note: Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only with the specific approval of the regulatory authority, since chemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures greater than 60?C may be encountered.

1.2

The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

B182.2-1.1

This Standard describes requirements and test methods for materials, dimensions, quality of work, pipe stiffness, quality control, joining systems, and marking for SDR 28, 35, and 41 Type PSM PVC sewer pipe and fittings. Note: Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only with specific approval of the regulatory authority, since chemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers and temperatures in excess of 60?C (140?F) may be encountered.

1.2

The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. Note: Nominal pipe size is indicated by an NPS designation, and actual dimensions are given in millimetres. For example a pipe of NPS-10 size will be nominally 10 inches in diameter.

B182.4-1.1

This Standard describes requirements and test methods for materials, dimensions, quality of work, pipe stiffness, quality control, joining systems, and a form of marking for PVC (polyvinyl chloride) profile sewer pipe and fittings of pipe stiffness PS70 and PS320, based on controlled inside diameter. Notes: (1) Pipe and fittings produced to meet the requirements of this Standard should be installed in accordance with CSA Standard B182.11. (2) Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only with the specific approval of the regulatory authority, since chemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers may be encountered, as well as temperatures in excess of 60?C. (3) For use of PS70 pipe, the appropriate regulatory authority should be consulted.

B182.6-1.1

This Standard describes requirements and test methods for the materials, dimensions, quality of work, pipe st iffness, quality control, joining systems, and marking for corrugated polyethylene (PE) storm and sanitary sewer pipe and fittings with a smooth interior. This profile wall pipe consists of an outer corrugated wall fused to a smooth inner wall, with sizes based on controlled inside diameter. Notes: (1) Pipe and fittings produced to meet the requirements of this Standard should be installed in accordance with ASTM Standard D 2321 , or in accordance with the manufacturer's suggested practice. (2) Industrial waste disposal lines should be installed only with the specific approval of the regulatory authority since chemicals not commonly found in drains and sewers may be encountered, as well as temperatures greater than 60?C.

1.2
