Full Description

Preface

This is the fifth edition of CSA C22.2 No. 39, Fuseholder assemblies, one of a series of Standards issued by the Canadian Standards Association under the Canadian Electrical Code, Part II. It supersedes the previous editions published in 1987, 1972, 1962, and 1936.

For general information on the Standards of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part II, see the Preface of the latest edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 0, General Requirements - Canadian Electrical Code, Part II.

This Standard is considered suitable for use for conformity assessment within the stated scope of the Standard.

Scope

1.1
This Standard covers fuseholders and devices for fuses to be employed in electrical circuits and are intended to be used in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

1.2
This Standard covers

(a) fuseholders intended for use with fuses covered by the CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 248 series of Standards when no fuseholder is specified in the CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 4248 series;

(b) High rupture capacity (HRC) fuses not exceeding 6000 A and 600 V and conforming to CSA C22.2 No. 106; and

(c) fuseholder accessories (e.g., covers, indicators, adapters, etc.).

1.3
This Standard does not cover fuseholders for renewable fuses (i.e., Class H-Renewable fuses) which are covered by CSA C22.2 No. 4248.6, Fuseholders, Part 6, Class H.

1.4
This Standard specifies requirements for the operating conditions, classification and characteristics, construction, tests, and markings of fuseholders.

1.5
In CSA standards, "shall" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; "should" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and "may" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.

Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.

Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements.

Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (nonmandatory) to define their application.

1.6
The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. Any other values given are for information purposes only.andard.
