Scope

1.1 This Standard specifies requirements for the design, performance, testing, marking, and instructions of manufactured free-standing guardrails that rely on mass and friction and that are intended to protect workers from a fall hazard. These guardrails are not fixed to a structure.

1.2 This Standard does not apply to
a) warning lines used for control zones;
b) netting or infill panels used as barriers;
c) guardrails that penetrate the structure and secure to the substrate;
d) guardrails designed to support material-handling equipment; and
e) guardrails intended for use on surfaces with a slope of more than 5° (1:12).

1.3 Tolerances Unless otherwise stated in this Standard, all units have an acceptable tolerance range of ± 2%. See more
