This paper has three purposes: First, to philosophize with you as to what opportunities lie ahead to utilize the heat pump concept as a part in helping our world's critical energy problem. Second, to touch on a few sensitive areas in which, (speaking only from my own personal judgment), the industry has been neglectful in the past, but where, in the light of the inevitable change in life cycle economics, it should reconsider its posture. And thirdly, to present what we see as a most challenging possibility of wedding the basic principle of ACES to other components to create a very flexible concept to serve commercial and industrial applications.
