This column reviews the Power Trends Chart information in the first edition of ASHRAE's Datacom Equipment Power Trends and Cooling Applications, and how it sought to provide more meaningful vendor-neutral data to the design industry. It also discusses some of the reasons behind the misinterpretations of the data that, at times, led to conservative over-provisioning of infrastructure.
