Packaged rooftop units (RTUs) account for about 60% of commercial building cooling energy consumption.1 Several studies found that more than half of all RTUs suffer from faults that result in inefficient operation, including improper refrigerant charge, insufficient evaporator airflow, faulty economizers, and fouled condensers and evaporators.
