Condenser water flow rate rules-of-thumb are based on old, outdated assumptions for typical chiller efficiency, says author Stephen Duda, P.E., and should be modified to meet contemporary reality. The new reality is not a nice, simple round number anymore; however, with spreadsheets and fast computing there is no need to use nice round numbers. A spreadsheet can handle figures with decimals just as quickly as round numbers.
