This Official Mexican Standard applies to all types of faucets, valves and accessories for hydraulic potable water installations that are manufactured, assembled or imported and sold in the United Mexican States.
The following are exempt from compliance with this standard:
• Bib faucets (bib cocks or bib valves with unthreaded spouts) for residential water systems, which shall comply with Official Mexican Standard NOM-001-CONAGUA-2011 Potable water systems, main water supply and sanitary drainage-Tightness-Specifications and test methods, or whichever supersedes it;
• Water closet fill and flush valves;
• Industrial-type valves when they are used in water that is not intended for human consumption, and;
• Electrical, electric, electronic devices or control modules that go with faucets, valves and accessories, which shall be evaluated according to their corresponding NOM-001-SCFI-2018 Electronic devises - Electronic devises for domestic use powered by different electric energy sources safety requirements and test methods for the approval by type or NOM-003-SCFI-2014 Electrical products -Safety specifications, or whichever supersedes it; and
• Showerheads for body cleansing, which shall be evaluated to NOM-008-CONAGUA-1998 Shower fixture employed in physical cleansing - Specifications and Test Methods, or whichever supersedes it.
