Describes the ASHRAE award-winning Manatee Education Center in Naples, Florida, an elementary and middle school which includes 19 buildings and uses a chilled water and ice storage HVAC system. Describes how the ice storage system reduces energy costs by shifting summer and winter power requirements to off-peak hours, qualifying for incentive funding from the local electricity supply company and also permitting the use of cheaper off-peak electrical rates over its life cycle.
