Recommendations for the design, selection, and installation of equipment on merchant vessels with electrical apparatus for lighting, signaling, communication, power, and propulsion are provided and controls, control applications, control apparatus, and automation on shipboard and for generator control panels and switchboards on ship are established by this series along with recommendations for systems engineering, design, and integration of electrical power systems at the total ship level from concept design through the establishment of the design baseline prior to detail design.
