This guide defines main assessment methods for geological hazards along and around transmission corridors that threaten transmission lines. This guide mainly covers patrol of corridors, geological survey, monitoring and early warning of geological hazards and geological stability assessment for overhead transmission lines. This guide is applicable to the assessment of geological stability of overhead transmission lines at survey and design, project handover and acceptance, operation and maintenance or other stages. The geological hazards included in this guide are landslides, rockfalls, debris flow, and land subsidence. Geological stability assessment for transmission corridors in tundra is not covered by this guide.
