A review of the literature was conducted in search of information relevant to residential load calculation procedures. Based on the literature, a study and analysis were made that resulted in a complete update of the current single family residential cooling and heating load calculation methods and new data and procedures were developed for multifamily housing. These data were based on results from a room energy balance model using existing ASHRAE transfer function procedures. Load calculations using the new procedures were shown to be reliable by comparison with detailed computer analysis.
