LB-17-C027 -- Fire and Life Safety Systems at Delhi Metro Underground Stations ✓ Most Recent

This paper presents the different fire protection and life safety systems provided by Delhi Metro in each of the underground metro station building and tunnel sections e.g. Smoke Management System, Fire Suppression System, Fire Alarm and Detection System, Emergency Power Supply and Emergency Lighting System. The life safety design considerations such as Fire Compartmentation, Means of Egress, Emergency escape and Firemen's staircases, Platform Screen/Edge Doors and Crosspassageways are also described in this paper.

The various Codes and Standards used for designing the different life safety systems are given and the integration of different systems with Building Management System with their operation philosophy is also presented. Emergency plans and procedures documented and practiced by DMRC bassed on experience of more than 13 years have also been described briefly.
