This new edition is edited by Thomas M. Peters, PhD, CIH, FAIHA, with contributions from other top experts. Dr. Peters is a professor in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa College of Public Health. He holds a background in environmental engineering and aerosol physics, which he applies to the study of human health as it relates to airborne chemical exposures. Dr. Peters and his team of graduate assistants develop innovative methods to rapidly quantify exposures to multiple hazards across the workplace, using low-cost sensors. They also incorporate novel and inexpensive ways to assess exposures on site, including ways to rapidly determine the morphology, concentration, and size of airborne particles. His research aims to understand the big picture of contaminants in the workplace so that they may be properly managed. He also enjoys teaching the Aerosol Technology and Control of Occupational Contaminants at the University of Iowa. Dr. Peters served on the ACGIH Board of Directors from 2021-2023.
