This standard describes recommended test methods for evaluating the performance of copper-base infiltrating powders. The infiltrant is placed in contact with a part, usually of iron-base composition, and both components are heated to a temperature above the melting point of the infiltrant. Infiltration may be simultaneous with sintering (onestep infiltration) or in a separate step after sintering (two-step infiltration).
