The purpose of this document is to provide general information on the definitions of NEMA enclosure
types; act as a guide for comparing specific applications of enclosures; and provide a comparison
between NEMA enclosure type numbers and ANSI/IEC enclosure classification designations. The
document is intended for use by architects, engineers, installers, inspectors, and other interested parties.
For more detailed and complete information, refer to NEMA 10250-2024, Enclosures for Electrical
