NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives, offers comprehensive provisions for installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining these life-saving fire protection systems. It provides general performance requirements for all types of fire door assemblies as well as fire windows, dampers, fabric safety curtains, and protective curtain assemblies.

This critical standard ensures these components perform as intended to limit the spread of fire and smoke within buildings and is referenced in NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®, building codes, and fire codes across the United States and around the globe.

• Changes to Chapter 3, including revisions to damper definitions and a new definition for label service
• Changes to Chapter 4, including reorganization of requirements based on door types, new requirements for glazing in wood doors, new extracted requirements for classification of noncombustible, and revisions to clearance requirements
• Changes to Chapter 5, including the deletion of requirements for field labeling and new requirements for the inspection, testing, and maintenance of special-purpose, horizontally sliding accordion or folding doors
