Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) designs and constructs billions of dollars of new and renovated publicly-funded, unique facilities every year for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. NAVFAC has experienced, over time, case studies of textbook to poorly-implemented commissioning. These projects include commissioning on facilities as diverse as office buildings, aircraft hangars, elementary schools, and troop housing. This session explores the lessons learned in acceptance/commissioning management from pre-design phase through design, construction, and warranty (post-occupancy) phases, from the HVAC quality assurance personnel perspective at NAVFAC’s Mid-Atlantic Division, the Systems Acceptance Branch.
