This paper provides an overview of the current regulations, standards and guidelines relating to the ventilation and fire control systems provided in road tunnels in the United States and other countries. First, the paper discusses the three types of documents; regulations, standards and guidelines. This paper also provides a brief discussion of some of the more common ventilation and fire control systems as addressed in these documents. In addition, this paper presents lists of some such documents that exist on a global basis.
