This course is designed to introduce the HVAC community (engineers, architects, building owners, facility managers, plus others) to sustainable design principles and provide the knowledge necessary to evaluate and implement cost-effective solar applications for commercial facilities. The purpose is to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills required for the development, evaluation, procurement, and installation of commercial solar projects. The technical focus is on cost-effective photovoltaic and solar water heating applications for commercial properties. A wide variety of solar applications are discussed, such as an overview of the foundation for photovoltaics and solar thermal systems. Topics include site assessment, solar geometry, sizing, common applications and configurations, economics, and commissioning. The objective is to enable the participants to economically assess, procure, and monitor the design and installation of a wide variety of solar energy applications. See more
