Experimental investigation of the heat transfer and friction characteristics of plate fin-and-tube heat exchangers having 7 mm (0.276 in.) tube was carried out. In the present study, eight samples of commercially available plate fin-and-tube heat exchangers were tested. The test results indicated that the effect of fin pitch is negligible for four-row coils, and there is a detectable decrease of heat transfer performance with increase of fin pitch for two-row coil. In addition, the heat transfer enhancement ratios decrease with decrease of fin pitch.
