.X9.5 Financial Institution Numbering System (FINS) This American National Standard outlines the industry-wide numerical identification system for banks, broker/dealers, insurance companies, mutual funds and other institutions (FINS) engaged in securities transactions. This standard specifies both the configuration of the number and the meaning attached to each portion. The FINS number will serve as the common denominator in communications among users of completion of transactions and exchange of information. See more
