The intent of this practice is to establish criteria, requirements, and best practices for developing and managing fall protection programs in order to heighten awareness and protect all industry personnel exposed to fall hazards in the workplace. Falls are preventable.

Careful planning and preparation lay the necessary groundwork for an accident-free workplace. This practice provides applications in accordance with requirements prescribed by OSHA, ANSI, manufacturers and the industry. This resource may be used to develop and manage fall protection programs, create fall protection plans and protect all personnel while working at heights.

This document provides guide for:

• Development and management of fall protection programs;
• Fall protection during excavation, UST and AST installation, service and maintenance;
• Use of fall protection devices and proper PPE;
• Ladder and lift safety;
• Working on a roof or canopy;
• Protection against slips, trips and falls;
• Regulatory compliance and liability reduction.
