Given the criticality of these types of equipment, inasmuch as they often represent a single point of failure on branch circuits and even feeders, the value of remote monitoring is enhanced. Further, given the complex operational nature of the mechanisms, there are a myriad of possible causes for reduced performance or equipment failure, many of which share a similar level of probability. Finally, much of the equipment at voltages above 52kV already benefit from remote monitoring, so advocacy related to that class of equipment is not necessary
